The Role: Payroll Manager

Location: Wellingborough

Salary: £35,000 DOE

Role Profile:

To play a hands on role in overseeing all aspects of the end-to-end payroll process for all employees and third party suppliers. To ensure that all payroll processes are carried to the highest standards to meet employee, company and legislative requirements and to maintain high degrees of accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing 830 paid staff –  apx 2/3rds are 4 weekly paid with 1/3rd salaried
  • Managing a number of agency staff and contractors
  • Completion of monthly payroll administration including SMP, SSP, SPP etc.
  • Identifying weaknesses within the current payroll processes and seek ways to improve
  • Statutory reporting and filing
  • Management and improvement of payroll systems
  • Maintenance and updating of payroll records in accordance with tax compliance's
  • Ensuring full compliance of HMRC guidelines
  • P11D and other tax legislations at year end
  • Processing and management of RTI
  • Support with the process and management of company pension and auto enrolment scheme
  • Setting and agreeing objectives with the team to improve performance
  • To liaise closely with HR team to ensure best payroll practices are being maintained
  • To develop and carry out training on all aspects of payroll management as and when required
  • To ensure that the payroll team give the best levels of customer service, both verbally and in writing

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Proven successful experience in a similar role
  • Excellent computer skills, proficiency on applicable databases and systems.
  • Requires a high level of proficiency in Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred experience of Sage accountancy, HR & payroll systems
  • Qualifications relevant to the role
