The Role: Production Manager

Salary: circa £40k plus an annual bonus based on company GP

Location: Leicester

Hours: 45 per week 0700 - 1630 Monday to Friday

The Client: Our client has been in business for forty-five years and is now in its first year of a five-year plan for rapid growth, doubling the business within the next three years. They are focused on three key areas to achieve this, customer engagement, team engagement, and business growth!

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Ideally, you will have experience working within a family-run or SME business heading up mainly the Production areas with some warehousing as well. You will be highly organised, be able to manage reactive and proactive change, outstanding leadership qualities together with the ability to operate at the coalface whilst taking a helicopter strategic view on continued change, driving growth for the business.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Organise all new jobs, taking them over from the Pre-Production Team and planning them into your Production Schedule.
  • Liaise with Pre-Production, Installations, and Maintenance to make sure they’re aware of all jobs and that all information required is available.
  • Twice weekly meetings with Pre-Production and Installations to gain an overview of jobs going through the pipeline and be able to answer queries and issues regarding ongoing jobs at these meetings.
  • Create and keep up to date an accurate Production Schedule and list of tasks, communicating this to your team so that they’re always clear about what is required of them that day and week.
  • Daily morning huddle with your team to go over the work for that day.
  • Analyse labour requirements and plan to have peaks and troughs resolved.
  • Provide practical/hands-on input and support within all relevant areas as required.
  • Actively quality check all jobs going out and make sure that all stages of the job are done to the client’s quality standards.
  • Ensure jobs for delivery are ready and fully prepped at least 1 working day in advance.
  • Make sure that any relevant paperwork / information on products etc. pertinent to jobs is available for the installation teams.
  • Ensure that the warehouse, yard, and associated areas are kept clean, tidy, and well organised.
  • Weekly checking, scoring and checklist recording of all warehouse, yard and associated areas, based on health & safety and good housekeeping metrics.
  • Monitor waste collections consistency, and request additional services as necessary.
  • Actively look for improvement and cost savings that can be made within the warehouse and production sectors.
  • Ensure that stock is well managed, including responsibility for stock checks, returned items, and goods in.
  • Have regular appraisals with your team and pass the results from these up the line to the Head of Operations and the HR department.
  • Assess your team for additional training requirements and communicate this to your manager.
  • Report successes and problems to your line manager and help find and implement solutions to any issues that need resolving.
  • Compile non-conformity reports where required
