The Role: Supplier Quality Engineer 

Location: Southam & Napton

Status: Min six-month Contract may well be extended to twelve months

Hours: 37 per week Monday to Friday

Salary: £25 - £30phr

Purpose: The primary duty of the Supplier Quality Engineer is to review and assess manufacturing procedures, typically by visiting vendor facilities and observing their manufacturing environment. These visits may occur as part of the supplier selection process, or after the company has established a relationship with a vendor. They may also revisit supplier facilities to determine if requested changes have been incorporated.

Scope: The candidate must be able to demonstrate they are able to work and communicate effectively to all levels within the organisation, up to and including directors. Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the candidate is required to take a lead role in the documentation and evaluation of suppliers’ production and processes, working with them to improve process stability through quality. The candidate needs to be capable of working within a large group in high-pressure situations making interpersonal skills critical.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and auditing of documentation of production processes and Poke-Yokes to ensure the quality of the product.
  • Assist with supplier concessions, ECR’s and design changes as required.
  • Auditing suppliers and documenting findings.
  • Supporting the qualification and launch of new suppliers
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Contributes to team effort and supports other aspects of the business.

Person Specification:

  • Detailed knowledge of manufacturing/processes/quality functions
  • Proven evidence of a hands-on approach in previous roles
  • Minimum HNC/HND Process manufacturing qualification or equivalent
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Applicants must have a full UK driving license and access to their own vehicle
  • Experience with Process poke-yoke for quality assurance and the auditing thereof
  • Experience preferred with machining techniques and processes.
  • Willing to get hands-on in support of the team, if needed.
  • Experience in Process documentation and standardisation
