Weekend Maintenance Operatives - Coventry

My client is seeking to recruit two Autonomous Maintenance Operatives (these are not Engineers but people good with their hands and a basic understanding of equipment and able to use simple tools (spanners, screwdrivers, Stilsons, etc). Their role is to Clean, Inspect and Lubricate the equipment when it is not running so following basic check sheets to help maintain the equipment and get it ready for when production starts. This is a Friday/Saturday/Sunday job – 36hrs (6am-6pm Friday and Saturday; 8am-8pm on Sunday). 

Job Title: Autonomous Maintenance Operative

Purpose: To take ownership and responsibility for weekend Clean, Inspect & Lubricate (CIL) activities. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor, the CIL Associate is required to adhere to health and safety standards and promote effective team work. 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct CIL activities to a high standard
  • Highlight improvements to relevant CIL standards
  • Identify difference to the expected condition of equipment suggest improvements where applicable
  • Update required documentation accurately and promptly
  • Review site Computerised Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) for allocated task and action / update appropriately

Key Tasks

  • Standard CIL checks / tasks
  • Jig and Lid Prep monthly
  • Deep clean of equipment
  • Oiling of chains, jigs and lids across equipment
  • Start up and cycle machines ready for start of production
  • Check extraction, conduct Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) checks
  • Complete end of shift report on activities undertaken / issues found
  • Ensure tool and equipment are available for cleaning
  • Check Planer blade, replace if required
  • Equipment jaw checks, change as required

Person Specification:

The competencies listed are appropriate to the AM Operative role and are an illustration of the qualities that the Company requires.

  • Excellent time keeping, attendance and work ethic
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Mechanical understanding
  • Exposure to a polyurethane or similar industry preferred
  • Previous experience in a “hands on” role
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to adapt and respond to change
  • Able to demonstrate ability to achieve objectives and exceed expectations
