The Role: Lab Technician

Location: Northampton

Salary: £25,000 per annum

Shift: 8.00am to 5.00pm Mon – Thurs, 8.00am to 1.00pm Fri

28 days holiday – (in addition after each complete calendar year of service, entitled to an extra one day’s annual leave holiday per holiday year up to a maximum of five extra days (5-day week shift) after five years’ service.)

Status: Permanent

Your Mission: Responsible for the execution of all material inspection, routine testing and product dimension verification activities as required by the organisation.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Goods inward inspection and dimensional checks (blanks, brackets & supporting automotive products)
  • Goods inward recording of results (CofC’s)
  • Material testing (compound, hardness buttons) & data storage (rheometer testing, etc)
  • Update & maintain Goods Inwards Master File with goods in data (CoC, GR’s & test results.
  • Goods Inwards Paperwork (logging and scanning)
  • Daily measurements of different parts produced internally (i.e. Exide Grommets, CRP, EPP, HFP, 1069)
  • Daily silicone tests to validate production runs.
  • Dimensional checks on Start Up Verification parts
  • Support other departments in relation with Sample Request forms, trials, dimensional, and visual inspection reports.
  • Support Master sample procedure (allocate master samples, update register, and maintain) Unit 2.
  • Interpret and work according to the customer requirements and 2D/3D drawings.
  • Vent valve analysis supported with CoC and master reference samples.
  • Drain Tubes testing (waterflow and tensile tests)
  • Plastic Parts dimensional measurements (alternative material, tool modification)
  • Internal calibration for unit 1 & 2.
  • Complete and perform other duties/tasks as may be assigned.

  • Commercially aware, in relation to all aspects of quality.
  • Able to work systematically and logically.
  • Computer literate and ability to communicate on all levels within the organisation (verbal and written).
  • Experience of rubber and plastic injection moulding industry would be advantageous.
