The Role: Project Sales Engineer

Location: Burton on Trent

Salary: £42,000 - £49000 per year

Shift: Monday to Thursday 08.00am – 16.30pm. Friday 08.00am – 1.30 pm

Status: Permanent

We have an outstanding opportunity to strengthen my client's Project Sales function in the UK.

As a Project Sales Engineer, you are responsible for managing project delivery from cradle to grave (RFQ to end of serial production). This role will provide key technical and commercial support to the business unit.

This role will require occasional (approx. 25%) international travel as and when customer support is required.

You will report directly to the Project Sales Engineering Team Manager UK.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Act as the main channel for technical information to/from customers.
  • Negotiate technical purchasing specifications clause-by-clause with the Customer by internal processes and regulations.
  • Assist and deliver product cost structure to Sales Responsible. Support them in securing growth in order intake with good margins and low risk.
  • Develop long-term relationships with customers through managing and interpreting their requirements.
  • Supervise and monitor the financial performance of the project.
  • Manage customer relationships and communicate effectively with customers throughout the project.
  • Coordinate the work of the project team for the optimum utilization of allocated resources within agreed time, resource, and financial goals.
  • Prepare and drive a project through all relevant internal and external milestones (e.g. design reviews, acceptance tests, customer audits and site visits).
  • Report project progress and performance to relevant project stakeholders.  Reprioritise activities as required to ensure projects are aligned and compatible with internal company priorities and initiatives.
  • Act as a company representative at meetings and discussions with the customer for the technical requirements, project timeline, and financial performance. Initiate possible change orders and additional sales for out-of-scope requirements.
  • Provide input to budget planning and allocation of resources for Gangway projects.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in manufacturing industry with relevant project management methodologies such as PMI and project management software for documentation and data analysis.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with ability to plan, execute, lead, and motivate designated resources to ensure completion of projects.
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD, preferably Autodesk Inventor/Vault
  • Entrepreneurship mindset and result oriented.
  • Be an active listener with strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong PC Skills including Microsoft packages (Office, Project).
  • Fluent English skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to travel, both within UK and internationally.
