Position: SMT Manufacturing Technician

Salary: Circa £28,000 DOE + Benefits

Hours: 38 Hours, Monday to Thursday 2.00pm to Midnight
Location: Bedford

The Position:

We are currently looking for a SMT Technician to carry out manufacturing process steps for the assembly of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) and assemble product to agreed quality levels to meet customer expectations.

Main Duties:

  • Set-up and run SMT lines to specified efficiency and process quality levels.
  • Ensure product meets IPC 610 to the specified class.
  • Input and preparation of process control documentation including first off inspection.
  • Work closely with ENG team and other technicians to support in fault finding and innovative solutions.
  • Ensure you are familiar with the department’s output production targets.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and update databases to meet the requirements of the quality management system.
  • Ensure compliance with all associated procedures applicable to the manufacturing process.
  • Maintain to the highest-level workmanship and product standards, and ensure no scrap is created with minimal re-work outside of design.

Person Specification:

  • Professional manner with excellent internal customer service skills
  • Good understanding of English including verbal and written communication skills
  • Reliable and strives for high quality standards.
  • Accurate with good manual dexterity
  • Desire to learn and develop.
  • Interest in electronics / manufacturing

 Previous experience:

  • Experience of running pick and place machines, preferably MyData, Dek, Jet printer, SPI,X-ray and reflow ovens
  • Preferable creating DEK, SPI, Jet printer programs, not essential as training will be given
  • Good component recognition skills
  • Previous experience of package creation would be beneficial.
  • Previous experience in working from circuit and Engineering drawings.
